Piazza di Santa Rufina, Trastevere, Rome, 5×7
This is the Piazza di Santa Rufina, which is really just a little side street lined with cafes in the Trastevere neighborhood in Rome, Italy. That tower is the back of the Santa Maria church, just around the corner. I got a little carried away with the ink drawing of the cobblestones and wandered off the edge of the painting. If you mat and frame the painting, it will be covered up, but I’m showing it here just so you’ll know what it looks like. The painting itself measures 5×7, but it’s more like 5×7.75 if you include that little bit of ink that escaped.
This is watercolor and ink, drawn with a dip pen. The paper is high-quality 140 lb watercolor paper measuring 7×10 inches.
Paintings are signed on the back in pencil. Some of my paintings are done on-site, which means that the paper may have slight scuffs or very minor blemishes around the edges or on the back. That’s just part of the process of working outdoors.
