Amsterdam Canal Houses, 5×7

I took this photo years ago in Amsterdam, thinking it would make a great painting, but it just never worked in oil. Now I’ve gone back to it and realized that it really wanted to be an ink and watercolor painting. It’s funny how some mediums just fit some subjects better. I love these old canal houses, and the boat docked alongside and overgrown with weeds.

This painting measures 5×7 inches. The paper is high-quality 140 lb watercolor paper measuring 7×10 inches.

Paintings are signed on the back in pencil. Some of my paintings are done on-site, which means that the paper may have slight scuffs or very minor blemishes around the edges or on the back. That’s just part of the process of working outdoors.
