A Street in Bayonne

I have to tell you, this painting was such a delight to paint because it gave me an excuse to look once again at all my photographs from Bayonne, in the south of France near Biarritz. It’s a lovely little town of narrow streets and strange shops.  On this street was an antiquarian bookstore where I bought the notebook of a botanist who studied at the botanical garden in Lyon over a hundred years ago. (This street is called the Rue de Faures.)  That’s the sort of thing you can find in Bayonne.  I was there last fall, and I’m ready to go back.

So this is a 6 x 6 inch oil on 1/2 inch thick board, with slots in the back so you can hang it unframed if you wish.  See all available paintings in my shop.
